Why have I been cooking my brain my whole life without a sauna hat?!
I used the sauna hat this week at hot yoga where it gets up to 110 degrees F for 60 minutes. It's a small sample size, but I felt about 30 percent less fatigued while wearing the hat. I also noticed my cool down period was significantly shorter after the class.
This hat was really comfortable and retained sweat well... recommend selling these at hot yoga spots.Let's normalize sauna hats and protect our brains!
Perfect fit and exceptional material - you can tell these sheep took pride in their wool!
I've tried countless sauna hats over the years - felt, wool, novelty versions, “premium” ones and every single one managed to disappoint me more than the last. Poor construction, uncomfortable fits, zero real performance benefit, and materials that either stayed soaked forever or felt miserable on my head. I was close to writing sauna hats off entirely.
Then I bought the Schvitzin sauna hat, and for the first time, I’m fully bought in.
The quality of the material is genuinely unparalleled. It immediately feels intentional, well-constructed, thoughtfully designed, and durable in a way most products today simply aren’t. But best of all: it actually works. With the Schvitzin hat, I can stay in the sauna at least 30% longer than I ever have before. No exaggeration. My head stays cooler, my sessions are more consistent, and I leave feeling better instead of fried.
On top of that, it’s super quick-dry, which makes a massive difference if you sauna regularly, and somehow, against all odds, it’s extremely fashionable. It doesn’t look gimmicky or awkward; it looks like something made by people who actually care about both form and function.
I’m officially a lifetime devoted client. If you’re even remotely serious about sauna culture, or if you’re someone who’s been burned by bad sauna hats before, this is the one.
If you are serious about your saunas like I am, you will love this hat. The "skull cap" design is an excellent fit. That along with the high quality wool set this hat apart from the rest. Highly recommend this hat!
Definitely makes a difference wearing one in the sauna. My only suggestion would be to make the adjustable strap easier to adjust. Maybe it was user error, but I had trouble. Other than that, it is very high quality and expect it to last a lifetime.
Cleaning Instructions
1. Do not put it in the washing machine - Wool shrinks and this will destroy the hat. Always wash by hand.
2. Use cool water - Do not use hot water or you'll get shrinkage. Keep it under room temp.
3. Mild soap only - A gentle wool-friendly detergent or even a tiny bit of baby shampoo works. Avoid anything strong or scented.
4. Don’t scrub hard - Lightly press and swish it in the water. Focus on any spots, but don’t twist or wring.
5. Rinse carefully - Use cool water until all soap is gone.
6. Reshape while damp - Lay the hat on a clean towel, gently press out the water, reshape it, and let it dry flat. No hanging, hanging stretches wool.
7. Avoid heat - No dryer, no direct sun, no radiator. Air drying only.
8. For odor refresh (between washes) - Just air it out after each sauna session. Wool is naturally odor-resistant.
Frequency:
1. Rarely. Wool is naturally antimicrobial and odor-resistant, so it does not need frequent washing.
2. Every 10–15 sauna sessions is a good general rule unless it gets visibly dirty or damp with sweat that builds up.
3. Many owners go months without washing, just air it out after each use and it stays fresh.
4. If it starts to smell, feel heavy, or lose its shape from moisture, that’s the cue for a light hand-wash.
